- Springs must only be wound, adjusted, or replaced using proper winding bars rated for the spring's torque — never with screwdrivers or improvised tools
- Extension springs must be installed with safety cables threaded through the spring to contain the spring in the event of fracture
- Never attempt to install, adjust, or remove a spring under tension without proper training and equipment
- Correct spring selection (wire diameter, inside diameter, length, and wind direction) is the installer's sole responsibility
